Philips AEDs use a non-rechargeable lithium battery to power the unit. Philips HeartStart defibrillator batteries include a 4-year warranty and 5-year shelf life. Installing the battery in your Philips AED unit will keep your AED in “ready to use” condition as well as allow it to run mission-critical self-tests. Using the AED in an emergency rescue or training activity will place a greater drain on the battery and lessen the battery life.
